A quote gets much more accurate when we know what is actually coming. The retailer, the piece, and how many boxes it ships in tell us the assembly time, the tools, and whether the job takes two movers or three. A photo of the order confirmation is usually faster than describing it.

On roughly 99% of our moves no permit is needed — we park out front, in the alley, on a side street, or in a loading zone. A furniture delivery is a short stop rather than a full moving day, so the truck is usually at your curb for twenty minutes and gone. If your block is a narrow one-way with no alley, we file an enforceable CDOT permit ourselves.

📐 Measure the Stairwell, Not the Room

The piece fits the room. The real question is whether it fits the turn at the top of the stairs, the elevator door, or the hallway corner. Sectionals and sleeper sofas are the usual casualties. Send us the dimensions before delivery day and we will tell you if it is going to be a problem.

🔍 We Check the Boxes Before We Leave

Crushed corners and missing hardware tend to surface at assembly, which is too late once we have already left the store. We inspect what we pick up, photograph anything damaged, and flag it while there is still time to swap the piece rather than start a return.

💵 What Drives the Price

Three things set the number: how many pieces there are, how much assembly they need, and how hard the building is to get into. A single nightstand carried into a ground-floor condo is the simplest version of this job. A full bedroom set that ships in nine boxes and goes up three flights is a different day entirely. Adding a store pickup puts another stop on the route, and flat-pack assembly is the part that most often runs longer than people expect.

📅 When to Book

Same-day furniture delivery is often possible for a single piece, but most of this work runs on someone else’s calendar more than ours. If we are collecting from a store, the store sets the window; if the retailer is shipping to you, their date is the one that moves. Book us once you have a confirmed pickup or delivery date rather than an estimated one. Single pieces can often be handled same-day or next-day. Furnishing a whole apartment, or anything with hours of assembly in it, is worth a few days’ notice.

1. Pickup or Receive

We collect from the store, meet a shipment at your building, or work around a delivery window the retailer has already set. Whatever we pick up gets checked against your order before it goes on the truck.

2. Deliver to the Room

Floors, walls, and stair railings are protected before anything comes in, and boxes go to the room they belong in rather than piling up by the front door. Nothing gets left in a lobby or a hallway.

3. Unpack & Assemble

Everything comes out of the packaging and goes together to the manufacturer’s instructions. Hardware is torqued properly rather than hand-tight, and we test that drawers run, doors close, and the piece does not rock.

4. Place & Clean Up

Furniture goes exactly where you want it, and we will move it twice if the first spot is wrong. Cardboard, styrofoam, and plastic wrap are broken down and taken away, so the room is usable the moment we leave.

How much does furniture delivery cost in Chicago?

There is no flat rate, because one nightstand and a nine-box bedroom set are not the same job. Cost tracks the number of pieces, the assembly time they need, and how hard the building is — a third-floor walk-up takes longer than a condo with a freight elevator. Send us the retailer, the item list, and your floor, and we will quote it properly rather than guessing on the phone.

How far ahead should I book a furniture delivery?

Less far than you would think. A single piece can often go same-day or next-day. What actually sets the timing is the retailer: book us once your pickup or delivery date is confirmed rather than estimated, because those dates slide. Whole-apartment furnishing and long assembly jobs are worth a few days’ notice, and the first of the month books out early.

Where does the truck park, and do I need a permit?

Almost never. On about 99% of our moves the crew parks out front, in the alley, on a side street, or in a loading zone. A delivery is a short stop, so this comes up even less often than it does on a full moving day. Which furniture stores do you deliver from?

All the major ones, including IKEA, Crate & Barrel, CB2, West Elm, Ashley Furniture, and Room & Board. We also collect and assemble online orders from Wayfair, Amazon, Article, AllModern, and Target. If your retailer is not on that list it is almost certainly still fine — send us the pickup address and the order details and we will confirm before the day. Some stores also require the pickup to be booked in your name, so check that when you schedule.

Do you assemble IKEA and flat-pack furniture?

Yes, and it does not have to be furniture we delivered. If a box has been sitting in your hallway since last month, we will come assemble it. We bring the full tool kit, work from the manufacturer’s instructions, and carry backup hardware for the common brands so a missing bolt does not end the visit.

What if parts are missing or damaged?

We inspect furniture before it leaves the store or as it comes off a shipment, so problems surface early rather than mid-assembly. If something is damaged or short we document it with photos and help you take it up with the retailer. For common brands we can often supply replacement hardware on the spot.

Can you take away my old furniture?

Yes. Old sofas, mattresses, and dressers can go out on the same trip the new ones come in, which saves booking a separate haul-away. Tell us what is leaving when you book so the truck has room for it and we bring the right crew size. Buildings with a designated bulk-item area are worth mentioning too, since it changes where the old piece ends up rather than whether we can take it.

Is this furniture shipping, or local delivery?

Local. We are furniture movers, not a freight carrier — we collect a piece and bring it to your door across Chicago and the surrounding Illinois suburbs, usually the same day or the next. We do not crate and ship furniture cross-country. If you need a sofa moved from a Wicker Park store to a Rogers Park walk-up, that is exactly our job; if you need one sent to another state, a freight shipper is the right call.
