How much does a senior move cost in Chicago?

There is no flat rate, and the size of the house being left is a poor guide. What we are quoting is what actually makes the trip, which after downsizing is usually far less than the family expects. How far ahead should we book a senior move?

As soon as the community confirms a room, which is usually a few weeks out. That gives time to sort properly rather than packing in a panic, and it lets us reserve the move-in window before someone else takes it. We also take short-notice moves after a hospital discharge or an unexpected opening — call us directly if that is the situation.

Where does the truck park, and is a permit needed?

Do you coordinate with the assisted living community?

Yes, and we prefer to. We contact the move-in coordinator directly about the date and time window, service entrance, elevator reservation, and any restrictions on furniture or item sizes. Families have enough to manage without relaying logistics between us and a facility. Give us the community name and a contact and we will take it from there. If the community keeps a list of approved movers or wants a certificate of insurance on file before the date, tell us early and we will get the paperwork over to them at no additional charge.

How do you help with downsizing?

We start from the new room’s measurements and work out what genuinely fits, which settles most arguments quickly. What if the senior cannot be present on move day?

Do you handle long-distance senior moves?

We are a local Chicago and Illinois mover, so a move from Beverly to a community in Evanston or Naperville is squarely our job.
